Afifabad urban event

An Event-Oriented Urbanism Experience_ Urban designing & Organizing of Afifabad Street
We could convince municipality to close Affifabad Street in Shiraz for 2days and allocate it to pedestrians. We had only 48 hours to convince people and authorities that mass car streets can transform to a space for social interactions and for citizens and artists presence! There was not minimal budget, infrastructure or similar experience. More than 20 years estimations and 2 years study and approval of a design which could consider all urban design layers also were deferred.
We initiate a movement called ‘’Shiraz urban events’’. We call generally for artists’ cooperation and invite people to join us in these two days.
This welcome was higher than expected. Citizens watch and hear performance and works of more than 120 independent and volunteer artist group in the middle of the city.
